The Greek National Opera (GNO) has figured out a way to bring the two together, launching an innovative membership program aimed at bringing opera lovers closer to the magic of the GNO. Through a range of exclusive privileges and unique experiences, the GNO’s Opera Club is building a rich community for opera and ballet afficionados, as well as people just discovering these artforms.
The Opera Club was established with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) as part of its grant to strengthen the GNO’s artistic outreach. It offers four subscription packages including perks like priority in advance sales, access to rehearsals and backstage areas, and educational programs exclusively for members.
SNF has supported the GNO for more than a decade, including its broad public outreach before the construction of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), the creation of its new home in Athens at the SNFCC, the development of its Alternative Stage to engage of new artistic communities, and its outreach to underserved groups through its educational activities. SNF started supporting the GNO’s artistic outreach efforts in 2019 with a grant for the implementation of a four-year programming and development plan to further promote the GNO’s work internationally. In 2024, following the completion of this grant, SNF announced the renewal of its support through a two-year grant which includes the creation of the Opera Club.
