The New York Times on the establishment of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library (SNFL) at the New York Public Library
The article quotes the SNF’s co-President, Mr. Andreas Dracopoulos, who stated that “The idea that there would be one hub, one campus, was very important to us,” […] “We want people to say, ‘I’m going to the library,’ without anyone having to ask, ‘The one on the right side of Fifth Avenue, or on the left?’ ”, thus encapsulating the philosophy of the grant.
In addition, the President of the Library, Mr. Antony Marx, referring to the SNF grant highlighted that “the gift would help give the city ‘the great central branch it has never had,’ while also providing a timely boost to the library’s broader democratic mission.”
The SNF grant will offer New Yorkers a modern, central branch, while contributing to the creation of a physical and digital campus that will incorporate the circulating and research services of the Mid-Manhattan Library.
