The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Paideia Program at the University of Pennsylvania and its offerings for students are the focus of a recent article on campus discourse in the Washington Post. The article also mentions SNF’s support for programs with similar aims at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Delaware.

“The intensity of viewpoints on these really wicked problems we’re facing has gotten to the point where if you’re a student or faculty and feel your viewpoints diverge from the common wisdom, there is self-censorship or hesitancy,” says SNF Paideia Program Faculty Director Michael X. Delli Carpini in the article.

The SNF Paideia Program at the University of Pennsylvania seeks to imagine a new approach to educating students as whole people and citizens. The SNF Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University brings together experts from political science, psychology, philosophy, and other disciplines to foster open and inclusive discourse by engaging a wide public. The SNF Ithaca Initiative at University of Delaware Joseph R. Biden, Jr. School of Public Policy & Administration will inculcate foundational skills that help students become engaged citizen-leaders and participants in civil discourse.
