INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS & HOW TO APPLY

INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) is a private, international philanthropic organization, making grants to nonprofit organizations in the areas of arts and culture, education, health and sports, and social welfare.

All applicants must submit their grant request electronically throught the SNF Grant Portal (Detailed infromation is available in the How to Apply section below) English or Greek are the Application’s only acceptable languages.

The SNF has an open application process, and receives grant inquiries year-round. The Programs Department assesses all incoming requests, and SNF’s Board of Directors convenes regularly throughout the year.

Due to the large volume of incoming requests, the SNF, in collaboration with each applicant, aims to complete the evaluation of every proposal within three months of its submission date, unless circumstances require a longer evaluation period, based on a mutual agreement between the SNF and the applicant.

The SNF will not evaluate a new grant request from the same organization, before at least one year has passed since the submission of the previous request.

Previous or existing support by the SNF does not guarantee new funding to the specific organization in the future.

The SNF signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Greek State in 2018, for a landmark long-term multifaceted health care grant initiative, “Supporting Greece’s Health Sector,” with a budget expected to exceed $450 million. The Initiative was ratified by the Greek Parliament in September 2018, and is expected to be completed in 2025. Moving forward, the SNF is focusing on this complex and expansive project, and although it continues to evaluate other grant requests, it will approve such additional proposals in exceptional circumstances only.

HOW TO APPLY

Grant requests are submitted online through the SNF Grant Portal. To submit a request, create an SNF Grant Portal account, log in, submit information about your organization and the grant request, and upload required documents. If your grant request is approved, you will also use the portal to manage aspects of grant implementation. Your account can be used to submit future grant requests.

Step 1
Learn more about SNF’s mission and grantmaking—and who is eligible to receive an SNF grant—to determine whether submitting a request makes sense for your organization.

Step 2
Create an account and log in through the SNF Grant Portal.
At this stage, you only need your own contact information ready. You will submit information about your organization at a later stage.

Detailed, step-by-step instructions can be found here.

Step 3
Enter information about your organization and your grant request.
We recommend reviewing the questions, preparing your answers in a separate document, and pasting them into the grant request form. Please note that you will be automatically logged out of the SNF Grant Portal after 30 minutes, and any unsubmitted work will not be saved.

Detailed, step-by-step instructions can be found here.
