The Public Catalogue Foundation

For publishing illustrated catalogs, including a CD-ROM, showcasing oil, acrylic and tempera paintings in publicly owned collections in Great Britain.

The Public Catalogue Foundation’s mission is the digitization of this collection, which is dispersed across the UK in museums, galleries, universities, hospitals and other civic buildings in order to create a complete illustrated record, and to make it accessible to the public.

The Public Catalogue Foundation was founded in 2002 with the mission of publishing a national series of affordable county-by-county illustrated catalogues including all oil and acrylic paintings in publicly owned collections in the UK, in order to improve public access to this collective heritage, eighty percent of which is not on view.
