Tall Ships Youth Trust

Vessel
For a new tall ship, the Stavros S. Niarchos. Tall Ships Youth Trust supports the personal development of young people between ages 16 and 24 through sail training experience on tall ships. The sail training instruction is not simply about teaching young people how to hoist a sail, tie a bowline, climb a ratline or understand tall ship jargon. It combines the general benefits of outdoor activities with the very special challenge of seagoing.

Most of the trainees are from England, but they also come from elsewhere in Europe (including an increasing number from Greece) and many parts of the world. Trainees from Greece are sponsored through the Stavros S. Niarchos Foundation. Close to 2,000 people sail with the two tall ships every year.
