Syn-eirmos Social Solidarity NGO

Program support
This grant is part of the Mental Health Promotion Program for Children, Adolescents and Young Adults.

To support the implementation of a program for pre-adolescents and adolescents living in Athens (Kypseli and surrounding neighborhoods), aimed at improving their mental strength and providing treatment and rehabilitation for serious mental health problems and mental health disorders through the development of clinical services. The program’s actions, which will be run at the “Babel” Day Center, take the form of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention and mental health promotion interventions. The secondary and tertiary prevention interventions are targeted at the children of immigrants, while the primary prevention and mental health promotion interventions are addressed to all children at high risk of developing mental health problems, regardless of origin.

“Syn-eirmos Social Solidarity NGO” was founded in 2005 and works in the areas of social solidarity, social economy, care and mental health for children and adults. It develops interventions for vulnerable social groups (immigrants, people with disabilities, people with mental health problems). Since 2007, the organization has been in charge of the scientific and administrative management of the Mobile Mental Health Unit in the Municipality of Trikala, and the “Babel” Day Center for the mental health of immigrants in Athens, both of which come under the “Psychargos” program and are overseen by the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity.

The “Babel” Day Center is a mental health unit aimed at serving the needs of immigrants and refugees living in Athens. The Center’s priority is to approach immigrants facing mental health problems and mental health disorders, or who are at risk of developing or manifesting such problems, given that migration is one of the risk factors for their manifestation.
