Stiftung Saint Martin

Project support in Cameroon
For the “Water is Life” project to construct 10 wells in the Mbankomo district, near Yaoundé (Cameroon).

The Foundation Stiftung Saint Martin was created in 1992 in Baar to ensure the continuity of the Water is Life project.  The project was initiated by a Catholic Mission in Otélé, Cameroon to provide technical and financial aid and drinking water to people in developing countries.  Father Urs Egli has lived at the Mission in Otélé since 1955.  It was his idea to build wells to improve the health conditions of the local population.  Since the first well was excavated in Otélé in 1989 more than a thousand wells have been constructed in Cameroon. The recipient village communities collaborate in the construction work and participate in funding the cost.
