This grant supports Randolph-Macon College’s educational program on the Agora excavation in Athens, Greece. It will be directed to Randolph-Macon student scholarships and to the office of the Director of the Excavations Program at The American School of Classical Studies in Athens, which has led excavations in the area of the Athenian Agora since 1931.
The Director, John Camp, is the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Professor of Classics at Randolph-Macon and has returned to the Athenian Agora every year since 1966, when he worked there as an undergraduate.
Founded in 1830, Randolph-Macon College is a coed liberal arts college. The Classics Department at Randolph-Macon has formed one of the basic components of the curriculum since the College’s founding.
