For support of The New York City Waterfalls, a large-scale work of public art by Olafur Eliasson. From July through October 2008, a group of four large waterfalls will be featured prominently on the waterfront in Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn and Governors Island.
Olafur Eliasson’s work has been exhibited worldwide and is inspired by the earth’s natural elements and phenomena, including light, steam, water, fire and wind.
The Public Art Fund is New York’s leading presenter of artists´ projects, new commissions, installations and exhibitions in public spaces. By working with emerging and established artists, the Public Art Fund produces innovative exhibitions of contemporary art throughout New York City and helps redefine public art. Since 1977, the Public Art Fund has presented more than five hundred artists´ projects, making it possible for artists to engage diverse audiences.
