For expanding the Masters level course offered by the Institute. The project includes support of community education work and a four-day Summer Institute that was held in 2006.
The Institute recently completed its first year operating the Master of Arts program in Orthodox Christian Studies, the only such program outside an Orthodox seminary in the United States.
The Patriarch Athenagoras Orthodox Institute, formerly the Institute for Hellenism and Orthodoxy, was founded in 1981 by the Graduate Theological Union, a consortium of nine independent theological schools and nine affiliated centers located adjacent to the campus of the University of California at Berkeley.
