For renovations and equipment for a two-story building to be converted into the Ecclesiastical Museum of Amorgos. The building is located in Chora, the capital of the Island of Amorgos.
The Ecclesiastical Museum of Amorgos will display heirlooms of ecclesiastical art and history including manuscripts, sculptures and religious icons. The exhibits will depict the religious and cultural history of the island. The Museum will be named after the late Archbishop of Athens and all of Greece, Christodoulos. The building will house the late Archbishop’s ecclesiastical belongings.
Amorgos has a rich cultural history that dates to ancient times. In addition to its pre-Christian features, Amorgos contains many Christian monuments, the most important of which is the recently restored spectacular monument of the Holy Monastery of the Virgin Mary, Chozoviotissa.
