The Metaxa Hospital was founded in 1967, as a specialised center for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. It has a capacity of 410 beds and more than 1,000 staff members. It serves the wider area of Piraeus, the southern suburbs of Athens and the Aegean Islands and hospitalises approximately 10,000 patients per year.
