Kloster St. Johann in Mustair


For restoring St. Ulrich´s Chapel, including the valuable and unique stucco ceiling, which contains four sculptures of Evangelists with spread wings. Experts consider the chapel to be one of the most important pieces of art from the early Middle Ages.

The Convent of Mustair contains a series of figurative murals, painted around 800 AD, along with frescoes and stucco work from the Romanesque period. The convent is characteristic of Christian monastic renovation during the Carolingian period. Since 1983 it has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
