International Center of Photography

The grant supports the US premiere of the exhibit SEBASTIÃO SALGADO: GENESIS which includes 245 majestic black-and white images focusing on the natural world by world renowned Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado.

Founded by Cornell Capa in 1974 to preserve the legacy of “concerned photography”—documentary photography created in order to effect change—the International Center of Photography is the world’s leading institution dedicated to the practice and understanding of the reproduced image in all its forms. Through exhibitions, educational programs, and community outreach, ICP offers an open forum for dialogue about the role of visual communications in culture.
