Hellenic Festival

For the Festival’s production of Luigi Cherubini’s Medea at the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus in July 2007 with Italian soprano Anna Caterina Antonacci in the lead role.

This production was the climax of the Festival’s Tribute to Maria Callas, marking 30 years since her death.  Callas performed the same lead role in 1961 at the same theater and Medea was her last major Greek performance.
Hellenic Festival S.A. is a nonprofit organization that organizes the Hellenic Festival every year in Athens and Epidaurus during the summer months.  The Festival’s mission is to create cultural dialogue and to establish the conditions necessary for cooperation and the exchange of ideas among the nationalities, minorities, generations and social classes that exist in Greece.  Educational programs for people for all of ages and ethnicities are organized in conjunction with the Festival.
