Program support
The grant supports the establishment of the interdisciplinary Center for Modern Greece. The Center will promote Modern Greek language and culture, and literature and history studies, and will function as a public platform in Germany for young scholars and writers from Greece, Cyprus, and the Greek Diaspora.  
Freie Universität Berlin (Free University of Berlin) was founded in 1948 and includes 15 departments, 7 graduate schools, 3 interdisciplinary central institutes and 9 interdisciplinary centers. Currently, 28,500 students are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate studies, while 4,800 scholars are pursuing a doctorate’s degree at the university. Freie has an excellent academic reputation, and has won the German Universities Excellence Initiative.
