Esperanza Medicines Foundation

Research program
For a research and development project to produce affordable HIV medicines using plants from Cameroon. The objective of the project is to identify at least one safe, effective anti-HIV/AIDS medicine.

This will be done through strong international collaboration among experts in diverse fields. The project will begin by screening medicinal plants from Cameroon for anti-HIV/AIDS properties and will develop the leading candidates into affordable drugs.

The Esperanza Medicines Foundation (EMF), founded in 2004, is a unique nonprofit organization that supports the research and development of safe, affordable, therapeutic and preventive HIV/AIDS medicines that can be economically produced in developing countries in a sustainable way free of patent cost.
