Bowdoin College

Program support
For a yearlong initiative to enhance the courses and offerings of the Classics Department.

The Classics Department plans to invigorate interest in ancient Hellenism by collaborating with the University museum and the broader community to enhance its programming. The initiative will encompass expanded course offerings in Classical Studies and ancient Greek, educational trips to Greece, lectures and exhibits.  The programs will produce a student community familiar with ancient Greek language and literature who will be able to communicate their knowledge to the wider college audience.  The enhanced offerings will also allow the Bowdoin community to understand ancient Greek culture and its impact on world history and modern culture.

Bowdoin College is a private, coed liberal arts college established in the late eighteenth century.  The art museum of the College maintains a renowned collection of ancient Greek and Roman artifacts.
