Association Notre-Dame du Haut

For partial funding of construction of the Gatehouse as part of the project “Ronchamp 2008-2010.” The Gatehouse, like all the new buildings in the project, will be built into the surrounding landscape, and will be designed to blend into and enhance the surrounding environment.

Informally known as "Ronchamp," the chapel of Notre Dame du Haut in Ronchamp is one of the finest examples of the architecture of Franco-Swiss architect Le Corbusier and one of the most important examples of 20th century religious architecture.

The Ronchamp 2008-2010 project was initiated in 2005 with the intention to preserve, sustain and enhance the spiritual character of the site and the chapel and to improve services for its many visitors. The project involves building a Gatehouse to replace the existing one, building a Nunnery for a community of 12 sisters, and completely redesigning access roads and the surrounding environment.  In addition, a new car park will be created. The architect for the project is Renzo Piano of the Renzo Piano Building Workshop. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2011.
