Association for People with Mobility Problems and Friends ”Perpato”

General operating support

The grant supports expenses (travel, food, the cost of external activities like therapeutic horse riding and canoeing) for people with disabilities who would otherwise lack the financial means to participate in the Association’s educational programs.

“Perpato” was founded in 2002 in Komotini with an aim of improving the daily lives of people with disabilities. The program trains people from all over Greece with primarily physical disabilities to live as independently as possible in their home environment. The building has a short stay hostel, classrooms and a small gym and is staffed with social workers, physiotherapists and nurses. Perpato also offers a range of activities which take place outside the center such as swimming, sports and tourism (among others), where non-disabled people are encouraged to take part in order to enhance social integration and raise awareness.
