Amaka NGO

Program support
The grant supports an innovative Art Therapy program designed for women prisoners. The program, Parole Project, is created by a network of five European NGOs, and aims to build creative bridges among the arts, culture, the penal system and society. The project involves a play production, painting, photography and video installations. The artwork by female prisoners will be exhibited around Greece and across Europe.

AMAKA was founded in 2008 with the aim of providing support through art to underprivileged social groups, such as immigrants, children with special needs, adolescents at risk, elderly people and psychiatric patients. AMAKA offers Art Therapy, Literature, Photography, Drama Therapy and Participatory video workshops, and organizes annual outreach festivals for human rights, photo exhibitions and concerts.
