The grant supports the 2017 Villa Kerylos international symposium related to “Life and climate from Hesiod to Montesquieu.” The symposium aims to show first that modern concerns about climate and the environment in relation to life and human health are rooted in the often unknown theories of Greek antiquity. 

The Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres (AIBLE), founded in 1663, is a society of scholars and a non-profit organization whose mission is to allow the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in the field of literature, history, history of art and archaeology, classical antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Modern Times, and all the civilizations of the East.
