2nd Junior High & High School of Avlonas

Part of the Education in Prisons Program.

The grant concerns the purchase of technological equipment, mainly computers and interactive boards for the classrooms.

The 2nd Junior High & High School of Avlonas was established in 2000, initially as a branch of the Junior High School of Avlonas. In 2003 it started operating as an autonomous school within the Prison of Avlonas. Last year, 180 students attended classes while 125 educational projects have been implemented since its founding. The prisoners’ involvement with these projects has resulted in 8 awards and numerous distinctions for the school in several competitions. Indicatively, some of the projects include the publication of a school newspaper, art workshops (theatre, painting, music, photography, and collage), a first aid course, and a recycling workshop.
