A different and innovative photo exhibition opens this Friday, November 7 (at 7:00 PM), at the Visitors Center of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, “zooming in” on the daily lives of the 1,200 people working daily on the SNFCC worksite, contributing to the timely completion of the project.
The exhibition “Depression Era” at the Benaki Museum opens today, supported by the SNF. The exhibition, is organized by The Depression Era collective and the not-for-profit organization KOLEKTIV8, and is the result of a three year collaboration among 36 artists, writers, architects, journalists, and researchers, depicting the urban and social landscape of the crisis.
- On October 29, the Center for Talented Youth – Greece held an awards ceremony in honor of the elementary and High School students who excelled in the special skills tests performed by CTY Greece and attended the special education program.
Born Free announces SNF grant to combat mother-to-child transmission of HIVOn October 27th, during an event co-hosted by LVMH and Born Free, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation challenge grant for Born Free’s efforts to combat mother-to-child transmission of HIV in Kenya and Tanzania was announced.
On October 30th, the Mobile Medical Units will visit the island of Patmos to provide extensive medical services, free of charge, to the residents of the island, where they will remain until November 3rd. This is the seventh mission of the Units, following the visits in Kastelorizo, Amorgo, Kasos, Astypalaia, Psarra and Fournoi.
- On Sunday, October 26th, the official inauguration of the exhibition of the Spyros Louis Cup took place in the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. The Cup moved to the Olympic Museum in September from the Acropolis Museum where it had remained for two years. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation acquired the Spyros Louis Cup during an international auction in April 2012. The Foundation announced immediately its commitment to make the Cup available to the general public.
- On October 28th, the conference “Balkan Museums without Barriers: Continuing to develop disabled people’s access to museums and heritage in the Western Balkans” will be held in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) organized by our grantee Cultural Heritage without Borders (CHWB) together with the Balkan Museum Network.
- "Philotimo", one of the most noble and admired qualities of the Greek people, was highlighted by Andreas Dracopoulos, Co-President of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, before hundreds of Washington, DC policy makers and opinion leaders at the Fourth Annual Washington Oxi Day Foundation Gala on October 23, 2014 at the US Institute of Peace.
The exhibition “Hellenic Renaissance: The architecture of Theophilos Hansen” hosted at the Theocharakis Foundation was inaugurated on October 22nd by the President of the Hellenic Republic, Karolos Papoulias and the President of Austria, Heinz Fischer. The SNF is a proud supporter of the exhibition.
