The Stavros Niarchos Foundation announces that the Silver Cup awarded to Spyros Louis, the first Marathon Winner at the inaugural Modern Olympic Games, has been moved temporarily to Switzerland, in order to be exhibited at the Olympic Museum, in Lausanne, in view also of the international marathon to be held in the Swiss city on October 26.

On Tuesday August 5th, the Swiss Secretary of State, Mr. Walter Steinmann, accompanied by the Deputy Head of Mission of the Swiss Embassy in Athens, Mr. Philipp Stalder, the Embassy’s Commercial Attaché, Mrs Joanna Thanasis, visited the SNFCC Visitors Center and the SNFCC construction site where they were informed by the progress of the construction works, the environmental rules governing the construction site as well as the innovative techniques implemented in the development of this complex project.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) is proud to announce that, after 10 months of intensive work following the achievement of the first construction milestone in September 2013, and with strict adherence to the project’s construction schedule, the second important part of the construction was completed successfully and on time. This second milestone concerns the loadbearing structure, supporting the buildings that will be hosted within the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.

- 25 July 2014 / 16th Symposium Aristotelicum
On Sunday, July 27th the 16th Symposium Aristotelicum is taking place in Delphi, organized by the European Cultural Center of Delphi, with the SNF’s support. The Symposium, an internationally acclaimed event, includes the participation of the most prominent specialists on the study of the philosophy of Aristotle. The Symposium is taking place in Greece for the first time and will focus on Aristotle’s Physics, one of the basic texts of his philosophy.
