Legends 2004 and SNF Support Merimna

Nov 15, 2019
This past summer, 15 years after winning the European Football Championship, the Greek Legends 2004 team returned to replay the thrill and joy of their achievement with fans through a series of educational and entertainment events, exclusively supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

The events were implemented by nonprofit Champions for Life, which was created by the Legends 2004 team with the goal of promoting sports, education, and health for children and youth.

The events, aligned with the anniversaries of the Greek National team's play during Euro 2004, culminated on July 4 with a game between Legends 2004 and the Portugal Legends, in a revival of the memorable final attended by thousands of fans.

The proceeds from the revival game, totaling €25,000, will go to nonprofit organization Merimna. Μerimna provides mental health services to children who are grieving the loss of a loved one, offers specialized medical and mental healthcare services to children threatened by a serious illness and to their families, and strives to educate and sensitize the Greek public on issues of life, serious illness, and death.

During a dedicated event on November 15, representatives of Legends 2004 and SNF met with the staff of Merimna to present them with the check for the funds raised to support the organization's work.
