10 Years of “Routes in Marpissa”
06 AUGUST 2019

Marpissa is one of Paros’s most beautiful villages, built amphitheatrically at the top of a small hill. It is a traditional Cycladic settlement that has retained its original island character unchanged.

Over the past ten years, the experiential cultural festival “Routes in Marpissa” has been organized there. The festival has contributed to the village’s prominence in Greece and abroad. This year, “Routes in Marpissa” will be held for three days, from August 23 to 25, 2019, with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

Its rich tenth-anniversary program includes thematic routes, experiential activities, workshops for all ages, lectures, screenings, contemporary art exhibitions, and concerts, all culminating in a traditional Cycladic feast.

The festival’s events take place on Marpissa’s paved paths or in indoor areas, such as yards, churches, special-purpose buildings and traditional houses. During the days of the festival, visitors will have the opportunity to get in touch with the special character of the village and its inhabitants.

Admission to all festival events is free.
