Presentation of the Results of the two-year “Hermes - Music Archaeology” Project
21 November 2018

On Tuesday November 20th, 2018, an event was held for the presentation of the “Hermes - Music Archaeology” project, which was implemented by the Speech and Accessibility Laboratory of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

The two-year project, which was made possible with the exclusive support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), provided training, both theoretical and practical, to young musicians and educators in the reconstruction and use of musical instruments of Greek antiquity. The “Hermes - Music Archaeology” project aimed to promote the music and musical instruments of Greek antiquity, support their use in research and education and introduce them in the reconstruction of the ancient Greek soundscape and in contemporary cultural creation.

The SNF grant is part of its “Recharging The Youth” initiative which aims to open-up employment opportunities for the younger generation in Greece.
