Inauguration of the new linear accelerator (linac) at the General University Hospital of Patras, with the SNF's support

On Tuesday, November 14th, 2017, the General University Hospital of Patras inaugurated the new linear accelerator (linac) which begins its clinical operations, and is installed at the hospital's Radiotherapy and Oncology Unit.

The upgrade of the radiotherapy equipment is implemented within the context of the program for the replacement of radiotherapy equipment in public hospitals all over the country, an initiative of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation to support cancer treatment in Greece, totaling €20 million. The program, which also supports the implementation of theoretical and practical training for the competent scientific personnel, in Greece and abroad, involves the replacement of ten linear accelerators in seven public hospitals across the country.
