Important note: Effective immediately and until further notice  ̶  but not before June 30th, 2019  ̶  we will focus solely on existing grant requests and initiatives currently under implementation in Greece, aiming to recalibrate our grant evaluation process to maintain the highest standards possible. To that end, we will not be accepting new requests during this period from organizations seeking support for projects in Greece. Please read the SNF’s full announcement here.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) is a private, international philanthropic organization, making grants to nonprofit organizations in the areas of arts and culture, education, health and sports, and social welfare.

All applicants should submit the grant request electronically by completing the relevant form available under the Application Form category. The SNF has an open application process, and receives grant inquiries year-round. The Programs Department assesses all incoming requests, and the Foundation’s Board of Directors convenes regularly throughout the year.

Due to the large volume of incoming requests, the SNF, in collaboration with each applicant, aims to complete the evaluation of every proposal within three months of its submission date, unless circumstances require a longer evaluation period, agreed upon by both the SNF and the applicant.

The Foundation cannot evaluate a new grant request from the same organization, before at least one year has passed since the submission of the previous request.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation is a grant-making organization only. The SNF does not solicit or accept donations from individuals, corporations or other organizations. Even though the SNF does not make grants nor does it provide scholarships directly to individuals, they do benefit through the numerous programs and actions of the nonprofit organizations that the Foundation supports. To find out about supporting any of the organizations the SNF funds, or to apply for assistance from programs supported by the SNF at specific organizations, please contact those organizations directly.

The SNF has not authorized any third party – organization, company, or individual – to assist in the application process by claiming or not claiming remuneration. Applications by nonprofit organizations are evaluated by the Foundation, in accordance with the procedures described on this website, and the submission process is free of charge. If any such action by any third party, claiming to act as an intermediary, comes to your attention, please notify us immediately.

The SNF does not engage in any business activity in Greece or abroad, and it is audited by Deloitte. The SNF, in collaboration with its auditors, Deloitte, periodically performs sample grantee audits in relation to the financial management of the Foundation’s grants.
