For completing construction of the Museum’s exhibition areas and for producing and installing informative exhibit material and equipment.
The grant funded the construction of exhibition areas that depict life in Xanthi in the early 1900s. The exhibit features a traditional bath, a children’s playroom, and a stamp collection room. The grant also funded the production of museum catalogs and the purchase of digital touch screens that serve as informative tools for visitors.
The Union was established in 1952 as Xanthi’s first cultural association and has since remained the city’s most dynamic. It currently has 700 members and conducts a series of workshops on the arts, including painting, cinematography, and theatre. The 19 workshops and classes are attended by the Union’s vast network of members and constitute a significant source of income. Among the Union’s initiatives have been the establishment of Xanthi’s Public Library, cinema club, and cultural radio. The Union founded the Folklore Museum of Xanthi in 1975 and currently manages its operation.
