Field of Life

The nonprofit Field of Life was born out of twin visions: That of SNF Co-President Andreas Dracopoulos to create opportunities for all young people—especially those living in underserved areas—to grow and thrive. And that of basketball legend Panagiotis Giannakis to inspire new generations of kids to develop healthy lifestyles, starting in the city of Nikaia, where he was born and raised.

Through a plethora of free educational, sports and recreational activities, Field of Life seeks to provide kids and adolescents the tools and guidance to explore their talents and interests, play, exercise, and develop their skills. The main goal of the initiative is to help young people ages 6-17 discover what they like, grow in character, and strive to achieve their dreams. Field of Life’s programming debuted in the fall of 2021 in the neighborhoods of Nikaia, with plans to expand into the rest of Attica and then all across Greece.

Construction of the flexible, state-of-the-art facility that will be home to the nonprofit will soon be underway on Thessalonikis Street in the Municipality of Nikaia-Agios Ioannis Rentis. In 2024, the building will begin to welcome kids to come by after school, eat a meal, study with the help of teachers, and then exercise and play sports. Basketball, volleyball, running, tag, climbing, swimming, and other skill-building, educational, and recreational programs aimed at empowering kids to seek a best version of themselves will be part of the daily programming. The organization aspires to provide a safe refuge and a creative home base for every child and teenager.
