The “Spyros Doxiadis” Diagnostic & Therapeutic Unit for Children

This grant is part of the  Mental Health Promotion Program for Children, Adolescents and Young Adults.

To support the implementation of a program for babies and infants. The program will be run in three Cycladic islands (Paros, Antiparos, Milos), as well as in the 4th Department of Athens, in collaboration with the Association for Regional Development and Mental Health. The key aims of the program are: a) to detect developmental and mental disorders from birth until the age of 5, b) to refer “high risk” babies and infants to a specialist interdisciplinary team for a full diagnosis, c) to enroll certain children on an early intervention program for a period of eighteen months.

The "Spyros Doxiadis" Diagnostic & Therapeutic Unit for Children is an urban, non-governmental, non-profit organization based in Athens. It was founded in 1982 by the late Professor of Pediatrics and former Minister of Health Spyros Doxiadis, and has operated under the scheme of out-of-hospital primary healthcare since 1983, providing prevention, diagnosis and treatment services. It employs the translational method and works to educate and raise the awareness of the community, as well as providing training and information to mental health and other professionals working with children and families.
