For the creation of a photovoltaic park. More specifically, the creation of the park includes the installation of PV panels on the roof of the organization’s building which will cover most of the center’s energy needs. The installation of the photovoltaic park will reduce the organization’s energy costs, and will set an example of energy efficiency and environmental care.
Alkioni was founded in 1994, and the Alkioni Wildlife Hospital treats injured wild animals and releases them to their natural habitats. The organization has established 30 first-aid shelters around Greece and operates the main animal hospital on Paros Island, which caters to more than 200 injured animals annually. Alkioni is staffed exclusively by volunteers, including the doctors and other scientific personnel. The volunteers number over 300 on average, with scientific personnel of 25 members.
