06 SEPTEMBER 2017 / The Public Theater’s Public Works initiative presented Shakespeare’s “As You Like It”

From September 1st to September 5th, Public Works presented Shakespeare’s play As You Like It at the Delacorte Theater, in Central Park. Two hundred community members and professional actors performed together on the Delacorte stage.

Public Works is the Public Theater’s local and national initiative that invites diverse communities from across New York to join in creating and developing ambitious works of participatory theater. The program seeks to engage the people of New York by making them creators and not just spectators. Members of diverse communities are invited to participate in workshops, take classes, and attend performances, and join in creating works of participatory theater.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation is a lead supporter of the Public Works program.
