On Thursday, June 23rd, 2016 the evening 6K SNF RUN: Running into the Future took place for the second consecutive year. The race commenced with the sunset at 20:50, and started at the center of Athens, at the Panathenaic Stadium, the hosting ground of the first modern Olympic Games, following a route that takes you from the city center to the Stavros Niarchos Park on the coast, via Syngrou Avenue.
The race was held for and was organized on the occasion of and in homage to the Olympic Day. For the first time this year, the 1K Special Olympics run was organized concurrently with the SNF RUN.
The race was organized in collaboration with the Hellenic Olympic Committee, under the auspices of the Hellenic Police and with the support of the National Center of Emergency Help.
The SNF RUN was made possible through an exclusive grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and is overseen by the NGO Regeneration & Progress.
The race is part of the 4-day events Metamorphosis: The SNFCC to the World, which will take place at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center from June 23rd to 26th.
